OK, using 7, this very weird thing is happening.

I do this:-

1) resize a pic
2) downsample it to 300 dpi

then, because I want a thick black border around a thinner white border surrounding the pic, I do this:-

3) with a white background, increase canvas size (relative) by 2 points
4) with a black bacground, increase canvas size (relative) by 4 points.

This results in a file of around 650k when viewed in a file explorer window.

HOWEVER, when I make a PDF of this file, it somehow balloons to 4.5 MEG.

I have tried doing it to only step 3) (i.e. only adding the one canvas size increase), and it makes a correct size PDF. When I do it to step 4), though, suddenly it rockets to 4.5M.

Anyone have ANY thoughts about what is going on and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

You’ve asked the same question three times. Stop being a PITA and go and go and find a copy of Acrobat for Dummies. That should help.

Respectfully, I’ve asked it twice and clarified with more information, and this CERTAINLY won’t be answered in anything basic. Something weird is happening in the application between one canvas resizing and the second one, and I can’t find a straightforward answer. I’m not demanding that you give me one, but I’m not going to apologise for asking the goddam question.

If you bothered to actually read what I wrote, you’d see that it ISN’T a straight forward problem. That is why I am asking it here.

Is that SUCH a shocking transgression of net protocol?

Well, it’s obvious that you think so, and no one else does.

Or the user.

I’ll give five to one it is.

What are the pixel dimensions of the graphic in question?

Fine! Great! It’ll be easy to solve then. That’s all I want!

What are the pixel dimensions of the graphic in question?

BEFORE I add the borders:-

4.03M
W: 2126
H: 662

Resulting size of PDF file after printing with Distiller:- 387K

AFTER I add the borders (by increasing canvas size twice):-
4.26M
W:2155
H:691

Resulting size of PDF file after printing with Distiller (changing no settings):-
2764K

I don’t see why this happens.
