In PS 7 , I want to print just a section of a photo image so that it will fit into a minature picture frame after printing.

I suppose I could do this by cropping around the desired section ( a head of a child ) but this will produce an image in the proportions of the original uncropped photo , in my case , an oblong shape.

I want tp print just a square section of the original showing just the childs head.

I could do this by accepting the cropped " oblong" print and then merely cutting the print to a square shape so that the resulting print will fit into a small square frame.

I was wondering whether this could be achieved in PS 7 so that a square-shaped area is cropped instead of the original proportional shape. ( this to be obtained without distortion of course)

Is it possible to crop an image in this way ?

You can crop in a square shape by holding down shift as you draw out the crop.

Alternatively, you can use the handles on the cropped area to drag the size and shape of the cropped area exactly as you wish it to be.

Alternatively, you can use the marquee to delineate your shape, drag it into the exact position you wish for the child’s head, then Image Crop.

Just search on ‘cropping’ in PS help and it will explain all.
