I’m a novice web designer, and I just presented to a potential client a screenshot of a mockup – he likes it, and wants to use it. I’m really psyched since this is the first time a client wants to use my work. I’m still trying to figure out all the technical stuff, like uploading and image quality issues. I’m not employed right now, and I don’t have much experience under my belt to have a web site, and even if I did, I dont the money to support one yet.

Could someone tell me what the best is to upload pages to a server for my client and his developers to use? Thanks.

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

No, you’re not a web designer. If you were, you would have to ask these questions. I don’t want to be cruel, but to get the knowledge I needed to do what you’re asking, I spent about three hundred dollars to take classes, buy books, and a lot of time reading tutorials. And I still have a way to go. And I’m unemployed also. Go to Google and look for tutorials for a start. No one is going to spoon feed you. You have to work for the knowledge. Most of it is out there for free.

You are going towards trouble.
To minimize it brew a few gallons of coffee and be prepared to spend a few days and nights reading non stop.
Webdesign is no quantum physics but still, having a computer and a few creative ideas will not be enough.
About.com is a gold mine of information, read everything you can there. Image quality since you have PS try Save for Web, jpg for photos or anything with gradients otherwise gif will do for now.
Uploading is often simple since a lot of servers let you log on with your browser " ftp://username:password@host.com" and drop your files in the browser window.
An FTP client is a better solution there are some free ones, find them. Next time you offer a service make sure you know what you can do and not. Oh boy, I wouldn’t like to be you right now!

One thing against you is hiding behind an anonymous email address like yahoo

Your attempt to be funny shows you are not completely desperate yet. Why don’t you come back and tell us how long it took for your client to tell you to go flip burgers?

The sad part is that he doesn’t realize how stupid he really is!

His point is that no one is going to be impressed by a business person with a yahoo address. And to answer your question above, what you need is either Dreamweaver or Go Live. No serious developer would use Photoshop for anything other than image manipulation. You also need to learn Javascript, php, html, dhtml and a host of other stuff.

Sure, you’ll find all your answers while your client is patiently waiting for you to fix mistake after mistake
You seem to be so sharp you can probably learn how to fly airplanes or do heart surgery at the same time .
Go for it, you can do it! I know you can.
Should you fail, Taco Bell will still have your old job waiting for you.

Switch to imageready to slice and optimize your layout. For quick lessons, try Lynda Weinman’s Photoshop | Imageready for the Web HOT. It’s a great book for beginners.

You can get instructions for uploading files from the web host you choose. they all have various guidelines, so check with them directly.

Good luck.
