I bought the photoshop at the store so it is my own copy. Keep in mind that ImageReady works fine. My problem is with photoshop. When I open it, it starts opening like normal, but then just closes on me. Kinda like a popup blocker could be killing it. It opens all the way to the point where you see the program on screen and just disappears.
Whenever you ask for help with a computer program, we need to know what kind of computer you are using (Mac? PC?) and what operating system (Mac OS 9? Mac OS X? Windows 2000? Windows XP?). It’s virtually impossible to help you without knowing this information.
In many cases, if Photoshop refuses to start, the problem can often be traced to a corrupt font on your computer; this is by far the most common cause of crashes on launch. It is also possible that there is a problem somewhere in your system, or that your Photoshop preferences file (which is not replaced when you re-install the program) is damaged.

Along these same lines, watch carefully as PS loads. You should get the PS splash screen, with one line of text constantly changing as various elements load. Depending on your system, this line of text might change very, very quickly. Try and determine the last thing that PS is doing, before it closes. As tacit stated, I’d guess that it is loading fonts, when the shutdown happens.
It is also worthwhile to point out that tacit’s first paragraph is SO VERY important. I hope that anybody with a PS start problem sees it, when they do a Google.Groups search for their problem.
Next, finding, saving elsewhere, and thus re-setting your perfs is probably second to the bad font scenario. It will not hurt anything to try, as you can always copy your perfs back, or just re-set them from the Edit>Preferences screens, if you can get PS to start.
Also, did it ever work upon installation, or has this been the case, since you installed? If it DID work, what has changed?
