If you are in the USA…pick one up at your local Barnes and Noble and see for yourself.

I have been a member for about 9 months. I think the magazine is fantastic. Lots of tutorials, articles , photos and the best thing is password access to photoshopuser webpage. It is loaded with videos, tutorials , downloads. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I am not a professional photographer but just a hobbyist. I enjoy the lessons and creating images or improving images.

I agree. I’ve been a member for the last three years picking up lots of tips and the website is just awesome. Before joining up, I discovered Photoshop User at my local bookstore. At $11 each, I’d be close to spending near the $99 membership fee just trying to acquire each issue individually. I also get a "Best of Photoshop" training video (DVD for Year 5) and a Photoshop Tips book with companion CD. The perks are great. With Photoshop User, the DVD, tips book, website access, it can’t be beat if you’re a Photoshop user. Also, you can get a subscription to MacDesign (published by NAPP) for about $13/year which is filled with tips on Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Freehand, etc. I’m happy with my membership and will renew every year.

I’m a newbie and FWIW, I picked up the current issue of PhotoShop User after hearing about it on this forum earlier to day. Looks great! I will probably be subscribing to NAPP, but I’m going to wait until mid-May as the current issue is apparently current until then. Sounds like the veterans are pleased with it as well.

I’ve been a member of NAPP for a few years.
Not a lot of "community" but the website and discount to Photoshop World (which I wouldn’t miss) the mag
and various and sundry other freebies and discounts
means you’ll get more than your investment back.

Colin Smith, Al Ward and Matt Koslowski’s tutorials
on the site alone make it a great place to visit.
I’m not as delighted by the Dave Cross QT video tutorials because they are fun to watch, but not as detailed or (IMO)
thoughtful as the ones where someone had to think
through a process, document it, and write real text.

I have also been a member for a few years. I think that its an invaluable organization and has a lot to offer. Photoshop User Magazine is a "must have." The tutorials in the mag are able to be done on the computer by downloading the source pics from the members area and following along with the examples.

Most Barnes and Noble Book stores carry Photoshop User magazine. Pick it up first and go through it. If you find that it is a tool you could definitely use than join up because there is more to be had from the organization than just the mag.

This is probably the only organization that I have belonged to == the other was AITP (Association of Internet Technology Professionals) == that I would never quit.

Also, NAPP is now accredited. Which means that you can earn credits just from going to their one-day seminars. Also they sponsor the PhotoShop World Conference and Expo. This year its in San Fran and is an incredible exhibit with 3-days worth of classes involving every aspect of
Photoshop/Illustrator/GoLive and Acrobat that you can imagine.

I was in Miami in October—and will be in Orlando for PSW East in the fall— this was my third year at PSW and it really is great.

We’ll have to have coffee or something…

I just hope Midnight Madness is better
than it was in Miami—I couldn’t believe
I stood in line for a ticket to that. It was fun
the year before in Tampa, but that
Fear Factor thing was **so** fratboy and
disgusting.

Other than the hideous weather and the
fact that the official hotel that was "walking
distance to the convention center" (not in the
pouring rain with books and a laptop, bud!)
it was my only disappointment.

You’d get to the convention center, either
sweaty from the heat or wet from the rain,
and the average temperature of the classrooms
was about 50 degrees, so you were cold and wet…
After day 1, I cabbed it and stuffed a sweatshirt
in my laptop case.

I hear ya! Do you know where the Orlando convention will be? I didn’t see anything listed on NAPP’s site.

I hope it’s at one of the hotels on Buena Vista and not the convention center on International Dr. Are you in FL?

I missed the one-day at the Javits in NYC.

I’m outside Tampa– don’t think they’ll list a venue for PSW-E until after San Francisco

I’m going to have a vehicle no matter where it is, and I know Orlando better than I know South Beach, so I’ll pick my own hotel, thank you very much….

And maybe I’ll pass on Midnight Madness and pull together my own SIG of grownups for an after-hours event with fewer nauseating food combos and bathroom jokes and more intelligence.

I couldn’t get to Javits, but the all-day Willmore PS for photographers in Lauderdale was great…and I did the freebie PSCS new features tour when it was here in town– Dave Cross was a nice surprise— he’s much more
engaging in person than in Quicktime.
