Anyone know of any easy way to clone from one layer to the next (and the other way) so that the cloned material is visible above both layers. I am doing this to try and join some images together and at the (uneven) boundaries it would be useful to blend bits from both images together to make the junction more seamless and convincing

Cheers

Not abosolutely certain I know what you mean. You can duplicate layers. You can drag layers anywhere you want them in the Layer Palette. If you want to merge 2+ layers that aren’t neighbors in your layer palette yoy can select one layer, then click in the blank box next to the other layer to link them, then under layer menu select Merge Linked. If they are neighbors in the layer palette you can just select the topmost layer of the 2 and Merge Down.

Not sure at all if this is what you’re after though:\

Yeh, just do what you would expect to do!

Create a new layer lets call it 3, select clone area from layer 1 then spread it onto layer three, repeat with layer 2 blend as required.

Step 1: Click on the layer you want to clone FROM and use Alt-Click to set your cloning point with the Rubber Stamp tool.

Step 2: Click on the layer you want to clone TO and clone away!

Thanks – that’s just what I needed – didn’t know about the Alt-click way of selecting one layer to clone from and another to clone to..
