I can get the bridge center to display, it was there the first time I looked at the bridge but I noticed that it’s now gone. I checked the Help file and it says to make sure that the bridge center is selected under the favorite item section of the general preferences tab…. but it’s not there!

I’ve uninstalled PS and reinstalled it but the bridge centers still not showing up

You don’t have to use it, and you won’t have it unless you have the CS Suite.

If it works it’ll be really useful, particularly if you use more than just PS. And, from what of read, it’s much less of a dog than the File Browser.

Bridge is not happy unless you have plenty of leftover RAM.

I guess that’s to take advantage of the new 4 GB allotted for RAM, maybe time to buy more memory>??

Which brings up an interesting question. To date we have been told that the
1.8GB RAM limit was due to the OS. How did Adobe beat that?

It _was_ partly due to the OS according to:
<http://photoshopnews.com/?p=134> because you still can’t go over the 2 GB limit on Win2000 and XP RTM and SP1 for instance.

Typical ‘tween OS paradox. I suppose Adobe PR couldn’t wait to brag, but the conditionals are longer than the sound-byte.

By dropping support for older OS versions, changing a lot of code, and doing a LOT of testing (which still only gets CS2 to 3 – 3.5 Gig, but that’s better than 2!).

Not entirely true. You get Bridge with *each* of the products in the Suite. See Adobe’s website:
http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/bridge.html

Of course, it’s less useful for switching among the various products in the CS Suite if you don’t have them. 🙂

I appreciate the correction. Unfortunately, the Bridge is so slow that it’s almost painful to use, and I have a fast machine with 2gb of RAM. I haven’t looked under the covers yet, but I suspect it could be rewritten to be pretty snappy.
