Hey guys… you used to be able to alt click the layers, and select the layer contents, highlighting them.

Looks like they changed that, but I can’t find where in the manual to be able to do the same thing as the older version.

cntrl-h still turns it on or off though.

I used to use that to make sure what was in the layer was only what I wanted in there.. any idea how to restore that feature, or what they changed the highlight method to?

Any ideas?

Huh? Nothing has changed, you can still select the contents that way. At least on the Mac version, you can (using command-click).

Ctrl-click not Alt-click has always been the way to get the seletcion.

But when you do that, do you get the crawling ants around the selection area?

Yes, providing that you didn’t turn off ‘View – Extras’, of course. But that was also the same in Photoshop CS.

Nope, view extras is on. if I select a layer, and then cntrl click it, it become ghosted, instead of selecting and highlighting the layer’s contents.

Very weird.

SOLVED!

with the older version, you could cntrl click anywhere on the layer panel, EXCEPT of course where the label is.

Now, you MUST cntrl click on the thumb image, and it works fine.

I don’t recall seeing that mentioned anywhere at all, but it might be somewhere.

You have to click ON the icon, not on the right of the icon. If you click on the icon, it works as it should. If you click to the right of the icon (where your mask icon would be if you had a layer mask), this is what happens.
