Have you installed the 6.01 update ? That cured an immmense number of Photoshop 6.0 problems.
😕
Figured out what’s happening here… There is a shared printer on my second computer that is my first printer option.
Don’t know why, looks like Photoshop search that printer on start up and if my second computer is off it don’t find it and crash… "photoshop.exe error" message.
Hey Adobe guys here is a little bug for you.
Just deleted the printer and Photoshop returns to normal.
Walter – actually, the bug is in the OS.
The only thing we can change in Photoshop is WHEN we check the printer information. As long as the OS drivers have problems, it’ll continue to crash.
Hi,
I’m new to this forum.
I’m having the same problem with Photoshop CS and Win XP. I have a home network with two PCs attached to an ADSL broadband router. File and printer sharing is enabled on both PCs (I have 2 different printers, one attached to each PC). Photoshop CS is installed on PC2 and when PC1 is offline, Photoshop hangs on opening at "Reading Text Global Resources". It’s always in the same spot. When PC1 is online, Photoshop starts up normally. I did manage to unhang it by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and starting up Photoshop again and it also started up normally when I removed the network cable to PC2. Is my shared printer causing this problem or is it something else?

most likely.
make sure the default printers for both machines (especially the on cs is installed on) is the printer that’s LOCAL to each machine.
Yes, that’s the way I’ve set them up. I have two printers – a Canon i9100 and an HP1220C. The Canon and its software is installed as the default printer on PC2 where Photoshop CS resides. The HP1220C and its software is installed as the default printer on the older PC1 which is running Win ME. I haven’t yet tried to remove the HP1220C from being shared on PC2 but suppose I will have to if there is no other solution. This is a bit of an annoyance because the HP is an excellent all-round office printer whereas we bought the new Canon specially for photo printing.
