Printing Pains

I’ve been playing with some 4×6 photo paper. Initially I was doing the "to fit" and since they were 4:3 format, I had the white border on bot of the sides.

I started shooting 3:2 so I could print straight to 4×6 without an cropping. Well, I keep getting a border on one side of the paper still I’ve checked the image size, the canvas size, both set at 4×6 @ 590dpi Paper type is 4×6 borderless. Even when I go to print with preview i looks correct, but I still get the blank area on the right!

It’s not resizing the picture, but actually cropping off the right sid of the image where the border is being left on the paper. Anyone hav some experience with this

The real trick to getting help here is to give out some information… Like the type of printer, for example.

I realized that I could have posted a little more hardware info a bi too late!

It’s an HP 6110, all-in-one. I was a long time fan of keeping thing separate but this printer works beautifully for me. More than adequat for scanning and printing photos, and the copy/fax function is nic too!

I run XP Pro, 1.2 Tbird, gig of pc133 memory. dual 120gb hd’s. She isn the fastest thing, but I still havent had any obstacles I felt I neede an upgrade over. She’s getting there though :

Most software have a center image feature, but it appears HP didn’t do this. In the Special Features section, go to Margin shift. Each step will allow you to shift the picture 1/4" left or right. You should be able to enlarge/reduce from here as well. Check chapter 4 of the manual for the particulars. If you don’t have a hardcopy, you can dl the manual PDF from www.hp.com or try this direct link

You may want to physically measure the paper. If it’s doing what I’m thinking, then it is printing at 4×6 if you are only getting one blank bar at the right. Most of the 4×6 borderless paper I’ve seen actually has an extra 1/2 inch or so on right that you need to cut off. My guess is that it’s for the convenience of handling the prints until they dry.

Well I think I’m fuxored. I’ve gone as far to download a newer softwar version. reset the printer to manufacture defaults. I just now rule out the PC altogether by doing a copy to 4×6 direct from the glass an it still did it!

Ehhhh, I love the printer, but its about 8 months old, I guess its tim for a new one
