I have seen this every time I’ve opened PSCS this way, so I am posting it as a bug.

I have PSCS open, the Browser minimized. I do not close the Brwser before exiting PS. The next time I open PSCS, the Browser tries to establish itself, but I get a partially open browser, and everything freezes. I have to exit via Task Manager, then reopen PS and it works. The browser is no longer present.

The first time this happened, I tried several different ways to make the partial browser go away and only mamged to make W2K angry! Then, I had to reboot. I couldn’t even exit the os from the screen. Now I don’t mess. Just exit from the Task manager.

Don’t mess with the W2K god! She hates it!

Lawrence,

I cannot duplicate here, so I suspect it is something specific to your machine.

If the browser is set to a folder with a lot of image data in it, it can take a while to read the browser cache, and even longer if it has not previously cached the folder contents – could this be what you are seeing?

Len, I have waited a reasonable amount of time hoping it was just that, but no it isn’t loading. When I reboot and open the browser, the total time is much less than the time I waited to see if the brwser loads on it’s own.

I’ll try it again, and take some careful notes.

Well, Len, I can’t dupe it either! I tried a series of possibilities, including actually opening a large 16 bit file, minimize the Browser, make a change in the file. close and save, then exit. Again, PS was fine on reopening, about 16 seconds on my 850 MHz system. The browser was tucked away at the bottom of the screen and maximized fine.

I can only surmise that, after a long session opening and closing several images something corrupts and causes this to happen.

I’ll keep more notes.

Not so fast! As soon as I posted, I reopened PSCS and pow! Lockup!

It stops at Initializing, and the image on the screen is the splash, surrounded by the scroll bars of the Browser.

Since then, it hasn’r failed, and I have done some heavy duty editing.

Maybe when I check into UtoU?………….

Gotta go look……..
