I have Photoshop 6.0. When I open a picture the color is not correct. Other programs I open the same pictures with look great including windows paint image viewer etc. How can I get realistic colors when opening a photo in Photoshop? Thank you.

Well, for starters read the manual.
Have you used Adobe Gamma to create a monitor profile?
What is your default working space?
What is your soft proof working space?
What is the document working space?

Most of the applications you mention use sRGB. Photoshop uses whatever space you specify.

This is a rather vague description of your problem.

How do you know that the others aren’t merely incorrect in a different manner? It isn’t surprising that the other programs show color differently from Photoshop because they don’t do a good job of color management. Jim
