I am currently using Photoshop CS on a windows XP box.
I have recently upgraded from PS 5.5
I work alot with PNG files which contain transparency. In PS5.5, all I had to do was to create an alpha channel, then "save a copy" and make sure the "alpha channel" box was checked.
Now in CS, when I attempt to "save as" , when I choose the PNG format, all options disappear. "Copy", "alpha channel" , etc, all boxes become grayed out. I also get a warning that "alpha channel" cannot be checked if it’s not saved as a copy, but the "as a copy" box is not available.
Right now I have a work around, I delete the background of stuff I don’t need, and export to web. This seems to work.
However for functional reasons, I need a full background with an actual alpha channel, so that this alpha channel can get edited without having to go back to the original PSD file.
Any insight on this issue would be appreciated.
