Hi!

A client has provided me with eps-images. They have very good clipping paths attached. However, there’s no preview image in them, so I can’t see them in Freehand (I’m forced to use FH in this project), only bounding box.

Question:
Is it possible to open an EPS in PS and save it so that vector data (clipping path) will stay in the image? Or does rasterizing get rid of clipping path?

Is there any other way to open an EPS and then save with a preview image?

regards,

Jussi,

Do you have Illustrator or CorelDraw at your disposal? If so, just open up the EPS file in there, save it with a preview and then import the resaved file into Freehand.

If you open up the file in Photoshop, it’ll rasterize all the information. You could then create a new clipping path around the image and resave. But if your desire is to retain all the vector information, then I would advise against opening in Photoshop.

Oh, that’s true and it works.

If it’s an EPS that only has a clipping path and raster image data – no it wont rasterize the path.

If there is other vector data in the file, yes it will rasterize that, but the path will be intact.
