Hello

Trying to recreate a graphic from a template that has a bg color of #800000. However when I set this in Photoshop it changes it to #990000 automatically. This seems lighter. Why is it doing this? How can I get the colour I want?

Hi,

Sounds as though you’ve got web colours only enabled, so it’s defaulting to a web safe colour nearest to your chosen one.

You are absolutely right, thanks. But why is a template made using non web safe colours?

Someone with more web experience may correct me on this but I think it’s a legacy issue. Time was when only certain colours would reproduce on the web accurately but now it’s less of an issue. Your template probably recognizes the current situation and ignores the "web safe" convention for colour choice.

Exactly. Just ignore web safe, you know it makes sense 🙂
