Hello

When I convert a canon CR2 files from RAW to tiff it takes ages for the thumbnails to appear when I open a folder full of the tiffs. Also, with Exifer I am told there is no thumbnail. This is a bit tiresome and I wondered if anyone has a work around.

What version of Photoshop are you using?
And have you downloaded the latest ACR plugin and installed it correctly?

Also remember that not all RAW files are the same – just because they have the same file extension doesn’t mean they can be read.

Hello

Using CS2. The problem is not with the RAW files but converted TIFFs and JPEGs. Old folders full of these files show thumbnails very quickly in Explorer. But I have just created a folder with about 20 TIFFs converted from RAW via Adobe Bridge and it takes ages for the thumbnails to appear when I open this folder. When I close and re-open it it takes ages again – when I look for hidden files there is no Zbthumbnail file that I thought was necessary for caching the thumbnail data.

Any ideas?

See "File Handling" in the Preferences. Does setting it to always save a thumbnail help?

It is set to always save image preview

By the way, I am now having trouble with Adobe Bridge not showing thumbnails or previews for CR2 files, although CRW files OK; and cannot open CR2 files in Adobe Bridge.

How about trashing the prefs (first write down any settings you want to keep) by holding ctrl+alt+shift (I think) as PS starts up?

Were those old ones also created from CS2? If so, maybe re-installing PS would cure it.
