I have several animated gif banners, all created using Photoshop. What I want to do is take these files and combine them all into one 600×400 file.
When I open a new psd file and move the animated GIF’s over, and then save as a .gif, the animations do not remain intact. How do I achieve this? Thank you.

You need to use ImageReady first. From the IR File menu, open your animated GIF. Then, from the same File menu, choose Export..Animation Frames as Files. You can now return to Photoshop and open all the newly created files and combine them into one .psd file.

a) psd files do not support animated gifs.

b) no format I know of will be able to hold two different animated gifs.

Why do you want to do this? Perhaps we can help you get to where you are going, if we know your destination.

The easy answer is to go back to the original layered PSD. If the animations were created in Photoshop/ImageReady, each frame is a layer.

If you really want to disassemble an animated Gif without having the master files, you need to use a program specific to creating animated Gifs, like Animation Factory:
<http://www.mindworkshop.com/alchemy/gifcon.html>
or Ulead’s Gif Animator:
<http://www.ulead.com/ga/runme.htm>

I think both programs have trial versions. Then you’ll have all the individual frames that made up the animations.

By "combine them all into one 600×400 file", I take it you want a collage. Open them gif animationm program such as ImageReady, displaty one frame at a time, save as individual files or create your collage in ImageReady. Photoshop does not do animation.
