Is there any way to save a bmp file as a jpeg?

Yes, open a bitmap and save it as a jpeg.

Please disregard this question. I had my flatbed scanner set to BW instead of Grayscale

Thanks. For some reason, the scanner bmp could not be opened as a jpeg until I changed the scaanner setting to grayscale

Ah, the image mode could have been different, and PhotoShop may have refused to make an automatic changeover for you. Go Image->Mode and select RGB (8 bits per channel), then you should be able to save.

It’s the 8 bits per channel that’s important. CMYK jpegs are fine. —
