How do I save an image so that when i open it in another program there is no white box around it. LIke they do with some clipart?

Convert to Index Color and select the background color to be transparent. Then save as a transparent GIF.

Image>Mode>Index Color
Image>Mode>Color Table
Use the eyedropper to select the color to be transparent File>Save For Web as a GIF with transparency checked.

Save the file as a .gif, .eps, or some other format that supports transparency. Jpg does not and you will end up with a white bgnd.m Rgds, MM
