Not enough ram to start PS 7.01

All of a sudden I receive a "Not enough ram to available to start PS 7". I have Win XP home, p4, 1 gig ram, 2 HD’s. HD 1,80 gig, 30 gig free, has all programs on it, HD2,80 gig, is for video capture.
Should I reinstall PS on the second hard drive? Will this free up ram and make my office a "Hair pulling free enviroment"?

30 gig should be more than enough free disk space!

Have you tried deleting the prefs file?

also see if you’re starving your os with it’s swap file. do you have it set to a specific size or are you letting windows handle it?

God questions. I will have to investigate. I ended up uninstalling PS7 and all of the plugins I have accumulated. I will do a new install and see if this clears up my problem and will post results here.

I reinstalled PS7, updated, but still have the samer RAM error. I have tried everything that was suggested in the FAQ, but no good. Everything loads up, until I get to "Sorting Font Lists", then I get the ram error. I need help, will someone please provide a solution.

EDIT POST— I have 512 DDR RAM, not 1g, sorry.

reinstalling doesn’t delete the prefs. try that first:

but since you mention it hangs on or after sorting the fonts, you may have a bad (corrupt) font on your system. if resetting prefs doesn’t work try:

Mathias Vejerslev "Photoshop stops loading at fontlisting." 12/12/03 12:09pm </cgi-bin/webx?50>

Fantastic. It worked. I beleive it was the fonts. Thank you very much. I haven’t slept in 24 hours trying to figure this out.
