I have been told that photoshop is an idustry standard graphics package but is the big difference, apart from price, between the the two packages?
Photoshop supports editing in CMYK, Lab, and other color spaces; PSP does not.
Photoshop supports spot color; PSP does not.
Photoshop allows for more sophisticated color correction, including selective color correction.
Photoshop has a far superior color separation engine.
There are many, many other differences as well. Most of these differences are interesting primarily to those who do retouching and color correction professionally, particularly for print, and are completely invisible to amateur or casual users.
Paint Shop Pro is not really designed to compete directly with Photoshop; it’s better to compare it to a program like Photoshop Elements, which is also aimed at the casual/hobbyist market.
