Any idea as to how I can get rid of a minor but irritating annoyance in photoshop 6?

For some reason, now every time I open a file the appears over the picture. This just started and I can’t seem to stop that.

How can I change the default so this doesn’t occur?

Thanks for your response.

I evidentally did not make myself clear on what I wanted here ( My badd!!!!)

I know how to remove the gridlines when they appear. What I can’t seem to figure out is changing the default so when I open a file the gridlines don’t appear at all. I just want to get rid of one of life’s petty annoyances here. Thanks

problem disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared. Thank you Dave. I dont understand it but we all know that computers often act in strange ways.

Photoshop will honor the setting, on or off, when the last document is closed and photoshop is restarted. In other words, if you want the grid off for all docs, just make sure it’s off for the last image you close, then close photoshop. When you start photoshop again, it will be off by default.
