Re-saving a image in PNG

Hi!

As you probably know already, if you open a JPEG image and save it again and do this for a few times, the final JPEG image will look really ugly.
Uglier and uglier with each successive saving.

This is due to the lossy(or is it lossless) nature of JPEG.

Does the same apply to PNG too?

no. png uses non destructive compression.
