Hi!

What’s the best way to get rid of white spaces on a 10 " by 8" image?

Because the image is so large, it’s hard to get rid of the white spaces exactly and accurately cos’ the image is too large to fit into one workspace.

Of course, I can zoom-in to the image to make it smaller(not resizing it physcially) on the workspace, but it’s really not accurate.

Any tricks to accurately get rid of the white space in the cleanest and most hardcorely way possible?
(I don’t want any additional white space than what is bare-bones, minimally essential)

Thanks,
Xeon.

By white space, do you mean a frame around the image, or separate white spots in the image itself?

Hi! By white space, I mean the frame around the image, not the white colors in/within the image.

Thanks Mathias!

So you mean cropping then yes?

If so, zoom in and drag in guides to the edge of the color, then use the marquis on the full image, snapping to the guides, and image>crop

Here´s a quick, fancy method you can experiment with:

Select>Color range>hilights
Select>Inverse
Crop

I developed this method when I had to crop a lot of cartoon imagery. It may not be accurate enough for your needs, but experiment with the concept a little.

Have you tried the Trim command? (Image > Trim).

Thanks a lot, guys!
Well, I’ve settled for the Crop command. 🙂

Say, does Image > Trim does all the white-space deletion for you? :-O

Thanks,
Xeon. 🙂

That depends on how you define white-space deletion. You won’t get rid of all the white pixels in the image if that’s what you mean.

If you have an image like this:

– and you set the trim dialog box like this:
<http://home18.inet.tele.dk/madsen/photoshop/trim/trim.gif>

– this is what you’ll get:

Hej Thomas.

Godt at se flere danskere på listen 😉 Godt råd, også. Jeg havde glemt Trim funktionen.
