I have a After Effects tutorial by Brian Maffitt, and in several lessons he shows Potoshop examples on a puppet and balsa wood airplane. Does anyone know the details of how they where originated? Or is there a book on how to do this type of drawing?

I suppose next you’re going to ask Pavarotti how come he sings so dang good?

Sorry, Ron, but your question is simply too vague to answer.

How DOES Pavarotti sing so good Phos?

Beats the beans outta me, Graff!

And while he’s beatin’ the beans outta me, Luciano somehow summons forth some genetic and ancient tribal voice. When you see him live, or on TV he’s just lip-syncing to recordings he’s made while he beat the beans outta me.

That’s how he sings so dang good.

I’m just a whipping boy for art.

Soooo…Ron. Wanna be a little more clear with your question? Or do you want to continue returning here, only to find more sick pathetic attempts at humor?

Your question to Ron is pointless, as he will probably Duck it…

I thought this forum was here to help people with questions, not comedy central. If you guys don’t have an answer maybe you should "be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt."

The answer is to go to art school. You question is the same as the old joke…

Q: How to you get to Carnagie hall?

A: Practice!

this may help…

after reading, come back and ask a question that can actually possibly be answered in a coherent manner. The regulars here, while a tough venue, are more than willing to help, when they are able. Your question is just too broad and too vague to get a definative answer.

What tools do youhave? What applications? Do you have artistic ability to begin with? If you aren’t able to draw on a pieceof paper, then it is unlikely that anyone in this forum could help you "draw" in Photoshop.

cheers

Ron…

Let me point out a few things about your question which make it difficult:

"I have a After Effects tutorial by Brian Maffitt…"

You’re on a Photoshop Forum. Many people here know nothing about After Effects. You’re referencing a name that isn’t exactly world famous. Who is Brian Maffitt? A published author? Just some guy who has a website? Where can we see his work? Do you have a link to get us up to speed?

"… and in several lessons he shows Potoshop [s.i.c.] examples on a puppet and balsa wood airplane."

What kind of examples? Does he "show" through video examples, still images and text, did you see him demonstrate this stuff at a seminar—WHAT!? And what does he do with this model plane and puppet? Create them from scratch? Use models of them and continue embellishing them with digital painting techniques?

"… Does anyone know the details of how they where originated?"

How can we describe and explain step-by-step any details, or even offer a possible direction in which to point you if we have no idea what you’re talking about? YOU’RE the one who has had contact with Brian Maffitt; have you tried searching for his work using Google? At Amazon? At Barnes & Noble online? Perhaps that might be a good idea. Have you also posted this (vague) question on the After Affects forum?

"Or is there a book on how to do this type of drawing?"

If we don’t know who he is, what he does, what you saw him do, or the style of imagery he created, how the heck are we supposed to point you toward a book that replicates what you witnessed?

You REALLY need to go read thoroughly at the link viol8ion provided, just above. Not only will it help you in your online activities, it’ll help you in organizing your thoughts in any situation.

We ARE willing to help where we can, but I’d guess most of us reserbe our mind-reading powers for Super-Lotto, Vegas, football bets, and guessing what our wives are pi$$ed off about.

Good response, Phos! I was mulling over how to attempt to answer his question without sounding elitist and rude myself, but you’re right. We don’t have nearly enough information to even begin to help him and that leaves us with the question he posted in the thread subject line which, to someone that’s worked their entire lives to "learn how to draw," is extremely belittling and insulting.

I hope you "Pros" will see this. Brian Moffitt is the the person that narrates learning tutorials on all Adobe products at Total Training. In the After Effects tutorial he reference files that were generated in Photoshop,or Ilustrator. Even though it is a After Effects tutorial that I posed my question, I thought since the file was generated in Photoshop that "the pros" could possibly have an answer. Evendently you don,t and you all are still flying by your pants, not knowing the real power of the program. Perhaps you all should look into the website of Total Traning and you may learn something.

Ya know, Ron…you’re right.

I think I’ll just brain-dump everything I’ve learned about Photoshop since early 1995, and go spend a bunch of money on new books and training videos so I can get up to speed properly.

Geez, I don’t know what came over me, learning, using, making money with and teaching others about Photoshop for all these years—I’m clearly not qualified.

I guess I better start over.

Yeah, we were kind of hoping that you’d find that out on your own. Telling you that would have been akin to clueing you in that there’s no Santa Clause and that he was killed years ago by the Easter Bunny. It turns out that the E.B. was having an affair with the Tooth Fairy and, being one of the "lower" mammals, was quite easily duped into the Tooth Fairy’s plot to make tooth loss, not Christmas, the most anticipated event in a child’s life.

Sorry you had to find out this way, Phos.

Geez, I don’t know the name of some guy I’ve never heard of who _narrates_ PS tutorials so I can’t possibly know anything about PS

Guess that means most biologists don’t know much about animals since they probably don’t know the name of the guy who narrates those nature specials on the science channel.

Come on Ron, get a grip, show us an image and we can tell you how it’s done (or at lerast some of the ways it could have been done), tell us what you did and you deserve what you got.

According to post #14, he narrates learning tutorials on all Adobe products at Total Training. There is no reason to doubt his credentials. I’m sure he’s an expert announcer. How many here can make that claim?

Oh, yeah:

* One hen
* Two ducks
* Three squawking geese
* Four limerick oysters
* Five corpulent porpoises
* Six pair of Don Alverzo’s tweezers
* Seven thousand Macedonians in full battle array
* Eight brass monkeys from the ancient sacred crypts of Egypt * Nine apathetic, sympathetic, diabetic, old men on roller skates with a marked propensity towards procrastination and sloth
* Ten lyrical, spherical diabolical denizens of the deep who hall stall around the corner of the quo of the quay of the quivery, all at the same time.
