I have created an action that resizes an image down in a series of steps. I want it to save the file at each step with a different name. For example, I want the action to perform the following steps:
Assume the file is named "31556.jpg"
1) resize to 700×500
2) save as 31556_large.jpg
3) resize to 300×214
4) save as 31556_medium.jpg
5) resize to 100×71
6) save file as 31556_small.jpg
7) resize to 50×36
8) save file as 31556_tiny.jpg

I want to then batch run the action on a whole folder of images saving the files with large, medium, small, or tiny appended between the filename and the extension.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks

Darren

One of the main reasons I want to use Photoshop is because I find that it does a better job of maintaining quality when resizing than most other programs. Does anyone know how to do this in Photoshop?

I appreciate the link though. I’ll check it out. Maybe JpegSizer will be able to match the quality of Photoshop.

Turns out that the quality from JpegSizer is excellent. It’s especially nice how ou can fine-tune the quality with the sharpen option. Thanks for pointing me to the program. JpegSizer solves my problem perfectly.

That would be simple to do with a Photoshop script if you are familiar with JavaScript, VBScript, AppleScript, etc.
