can’t get any fonts to show

just have upgraded to windows xp home version from 2000 professional and the first time i went to use ps and imageready i got a message: default system font
could not be obtained.
everytime i try to put the cursor on an existing image, new image, an image from the windows 2000 it comes up with this message. i have uninstalled, reinstalled again and still this problem. everthing else works well, when i uninstalled i also deleted all adobe files on computer also. i am running windows xp home version, 866 pentiumIII, 256 ram. any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!

How? Did you do an inplace upgrade ontop of Win2K or a clean install. If you did an upgrade, all bets are off.

Good. Now, what version of Photoshop? Did you install a font manager? If so, which one? Did you deactivate any required fonts?

Also, have you tried trashing your prefs? If not do that first. Details are in the FAQs.

That can happen if you have just too many fonts active. If you have a lot of fonts, try removing half of them

reset prefs file still no results. i have version 7.0 and i am not using any font manager at all, also i didn’t deactivate any fonts (don ‘t know how to do that)

Just remove some fonts from your fonts folder to somewhere else…..

just have a 30 or so fonts to choose not a lot the message reads:

could not complete your request because a default system font could not be obtained.

is there a place that i could find out what the default system font is? or should be?

It is sounding very much like a bad O/S install to me…..
