Whenever I’m working with images PS always puts this thin black border around my main comp. It can really get in the way when I’m trying to make my own border. I looked through Preferences but couldn’t find a way to turn it off. What am I missing?

I think they shoud make it a preference.

I suggest you make a Feature Request.

Steve,

A suggestion – when you come to applying your border, invert the image, apply a white border of the desired width, then invert the image again. At least this will give you an accurate visual of how thick the border will actually appear.

You could record this as an action to make the process even less painful.

Fred.

OK. Sorry. I tried searching the forums and I found everything BUT what I was talking about. I’ll make my way to the Feature Request area.

Perhaps this is of no help whatsoever but what about making the application background black so the black line becomes invisible against the application background. You can do this by shift clicking in the background area with the paint bucket with black as the foreground colour.

hmmm…

I think he might be making thin black borders, so they would blend in as well…

I am hoping that these files are not destined for print. Photoshop is the wrong place to be adding black holding lines for print.

Sometimes they are thin black borders and, no, they aren’t destined for print. Regardless, it should be able to be toggled on or off.
