I’m trying to duplicate something in Elements that I do in Photoshop but I can’t figure out how. Help is appreciated.
Basically I’m trying to make an edge mask for an image based on the data in the image and then use this edge mask when I run USM.
In Photoshop I generate the mask by duplicating a channel and then running it thru four filters to make a nice soft edge mask, working on the mask in the Channels palette. Then I return to the RGB image and do Selection > Load Selection to load the channel as a mask and do my thing.
I can’t figure out how to do this in Elements since there are no channels. What I tried is making a duplicate of the image, changing the mode to gray scale and running the filters, which works OK. But at this point I can’t seem to get this info back into the original color image as a mask or selection. Any help with this step from all you Elements gurus is appreciated. It’s probably simple but I don’t see it.
