Fixer Labs has 2 new products that claim extreme enlargement capabilities. See:
http://www.fixerlabs.com/New_Website/pages/sizefixerslr.htm for the cheaper of the two.
If anyone tries this I’d like to know your opinion. The price is quite high. I’m not inclined to try this without some reassurance.

Thanks.

I’d be very sceptical about claims and samples that suggest more resolution than there was in the original. That’s not to say that unsharpened original files can’t be improved, but there are other possibilities to pull-out what’s in there, which often includes noise 🙁

As an example of a method often used in Astrophotography: < http://www.xs4all.nl/~bvdwolf/main/downloads/Batavia_Crop.jp g>.

Other methods, such as free High-Pass filters, will allow to approach those results if some prior knowledge about the camera/lens is used (before up-sampling, if needed).

Bart:
The image was very impressive.
I’ll have to take a look at astrophotography techniques. Thanks

Anyone can claim extreme enlargement capabilities. Fact is, nothing–no program, no algorithm, no technique–can enlarge a raster (pixel) image and create detail that does not exist in the original. It cannot be done, end of story.

You will never get results from any enlarging program which are as good as if you had started with a high-resolution image from the beginning. Save your money.

Don’t enlarge by smooshing pixels around. Rasterbate!
