Maybe there is a simple answer to my problem–I certainly hope so. I like to keep new, unedited images in read-only form on an external hard drive. After opening one of them in PS CS, I want to save the edited file to a different drive and directory. However, when I hit Save, the source drive directory comes up, and I have to navigate to the other one, which involves considerable clicking. Is there a way to set a preference so the Save or SaveAs menu selection goes to a different directory than the one that coems up on Open?

TIA

Create an Action that saves the file to the working directory you wish to use using Save As. Then play that action. I do this quite regularly.

hope this helps,

You can also assign a shortcut to this, say F2 to make it even easier. Just be careful not to clobber any shortcuts you use.

enjoy,
