I need to add the copyright symbol in Photoshop text from a laptop. I know how to do it on a desktop in XP using alt key and the numeric keypad, but the laptop doesn’t have a numeric keypad.

Any simple way to do this?

(assuming windows is the OS)
start>programs>accessories>system tools>character map you can cut and paste from there
I never used it but I think PS should have some symbol fonts?

Photoshop does NOT have any copyright symbols. They are in the font.

Bill Hilton is a **very** experienced user. I’m sure that he knows that.

The custom shape tool (the ameboid icon) has a copyright shape. However, it’s not a font.

Usually, on a laptop pressing NumLock turns some of the letter keys into the numeric keypad. Do some of the keys over to the right have numbers printed on them just too faint to be noticed, or have they perhaps worn off?

What I do is start MS Word, select Insert Symbol, insert the relevant symbol into the Word document, close the dialog, copy the character(s) to the clipboard, return to PS, and then paste in the text. Seems complicated, but it’s really fast and simple. I also use this method to copy the trademark symbol, etc.

Method II is to port over a document created on a PC that contains the characters that you need and copy and paste from it.

Or, you can hold the "alt" key down and type the numbers 0169 for the copyright symbol. ("alt0169" returns C on a windows machine) Then change the font and point size as desired.

Most notebooks have some way of simulating the numeric keypad. I think mine is fairly standard. It has a "NumLock" key and a Function Key. Press NumLock and release it to set Numeric Lock, and hold down the "Fn" key (and the alt key) while typing the numbers, you get the equivalent of the numeric key pad.

Or here’s one you can copy –>

have to type 0169 on the numeric keypad but there’s no numeric keypad on my laptop, hence the question …
The character map is a lot easier than Word 🙂
