What video software are you using?
Premier Pro and after effects. I have a clip of a person that I want to put into another world if you like. I need a quick way to extract either the subject or the background and remove from multiple frames.
Premiere and After Effects both have their own forums. You might get better help there.
I may do but you typicaly use Photoshop for the editing of the frames and then Premier to do transitions ect – so I think this is the correct forum.
Okay. If you have a plain background, I´d use something like Select>Color Range, or do some channel manipulation to build a mask, in order to extract the person. If you have a busy background, its a bit more complicated, and you might have to extract manually with Quick Mask in the end.
Is their a way to do many frames at a time or am I going to have to do 1 by 1 ?
You’ll have to do the masking frame by frame – that’s why AE might be better for this sort of thing.
I’ve done this sort of thing in Photoshop, and I’ve done this sort of thing in Final Cut and After Effects – if it’s more than 2 seconds of footage, trust me – you dont want to do this in Photoshop.
Which is the best method and application then ?
That depends on what you have to work with – what type of background there is.
Hopefully it’s a pretty consistent background, in AE there’s a matte filter that lets you select the color you dont want – your background color – and removes it.
