I will be printing separations on my Epson, and I wonder if I need to find a specialized source for the acetate substrate. Epson itself offers what it calls "transparencies" for use with overhead projectors, etc., but doesn’t specify its opacity (if any) or color (ditto.)

Does anyone out there have opinions and experience regarding acetates for this purpose.? Are they all more-or-less equal, or do I need to be choosy?

Thanks.

They need to have special coating to accept ink.

It depend on what you want to do with your separations? the material supplied for OHP is not great! the coating that holds the ink is quite thin, there is a special material made for doing artwork, the surface looks a bit milky as the coating is thicker, this is required to hold sufficient ink to get the density required for process prints, sorry I don’t know what the trade name is as I purchase it from a local wholesale supplier who repackages it with their own name. if you are based in the UK email me and I can let you have their address they are near London.
