Why so dark?

Recently when I open a digital pictures (that looks fine when viewed by any other method) in PhotoShop they all look very dark. They never did before! Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

try:
layers/new adjustment layer/ brightness-contrast… and then you can set the brightness to a higher level.

colour profile maybe?
