And also, see how I’m replying to your post by typing underneath it? This is how you do it, see? Top posting, putting your reply across the top, is for stupid Americans only…thank you..

People that put the attachments of others posts at the top of an email are complete idiots and should think about their netiquette.

How many times are we supposed to read the crap over and over before we get to the reply? On a long post it better be good or most will just killfilter you to avoid further repeat reading. The Europeans on cells modems will certainly love you for running up their online bills…NOT!

That’s why snipping unnecessary text is the way to go, then replying directly under the text you are referring to.

Unfortunately muppets like you who top-post are invariably the worst offenders for not snipping the text you quote.

I appreciate it’s a double whammy you being Canadian and an OE user, but I’m sure you can put a little effort into moving the cursor from where Bill suggests you start typing.

Then I suggest you actually read up on some of the Usenet ‘manuals’ aka RFCs

Who am I to trim a cross post? I simply replied to the original cross post, and the vast and un-related cross grouping was that person’s stange selection. To therefore be assured that my reply is read, I needed to maintain the groups.

And don’t dis the ascii art…I’m actually an 80’s kinda guy, and have to show my outdated and outmoded ways in some way!

That’s considerate of you, but if for every single internet scam out there (there are countless ones) somebody crossposted a notice/warning through usenet, we’d be flooded with such caveats in short time.

Agreed, it’s like driving a car, using the Internet is a dangerous enterprise, and while it maybe far fetched to suggest lessons and a test to use the Internet, I think it’s fair to suggest, that you’d be in the same kinda trouble to do embark on either venture while lacking a good grounding.

Getting into a car and trying to drive away is not too distant from getting onto the internet without knowledge of firewalls, anti-virus, pop-up blockers, spam-blockers…and so on..

Or maybe a better analogy is with sex education, as we need to be educating our 10 year olds about their safety, and their own protection. And that using Outlook Express as your newsreader is akin to using any form of contraceptive endorsed by the Catholic Church, as they both end up getting you into trouble and disowned by your family!

You don’t half talk bollocks. If there were no standards on formats, then MS would long ago have produced newsreaders that made it impossible for other makers to read/write to newsgroups. Instead of just making one which makes things look crap.

As regards netiquette – have you ever done a search and read the results?

You are obviously a newbie at this, given away by your propensity for top posting, your use of OE and your ignorance of what an RFC is.

Don’t say that, they’ll go on a crazy top posting rampage just to out number the bottom (proper) posts just to prove you wrong.

A. Because it messes up the reading order

I much prefer posts at the top, then you don’t have to scroll down to read it. Much easier.
So how can one person be wrong about this? It’s what ever each individual person prefers.

You’re a dense little fucktard ain’t you sonny? So dense, in fact, that you bend light!

Your newbie arrogance is outstanding and comical, just because you like to do it makes it alright does it? Jeez the logic overpowers me!

Let me point you in the direction of RFC1855, which is easily found on Google, so even a moron like you has no excuse….and from whick I quote

3.1 User Guidelines
3.1.1 General Guidelines for mailing lists and NetNews
If you are sending a reply to a message or a posting be sure you summarize the original ==>***"at the top"***<== of the message, or include just enough text of the original to give a context. This will make sure readers understand when they start to read your response. Since NetNews, especially, is proliferated by distributing the postings from one host to another, it is possible to see a response to a message before seeing the original. Giving context helps everyone. But do not include the entire original!

So go take your newbie BTInternet/Outlook Express stupidity and arrogance elsewhere, as you have be found to be clueless on what you are having the nerve to stick your nose in.

FFS, whats the point of top posting if you don’t remove the rest of the thread?

The rest of the thread is useless if you insist on being an arse and top posting.

Your post is totally useless if you bottom post after a bunch of header crap. Who wants to scroll 100 lines to read somebody’s rant unless they are something special?

Yet another own goal by a newbie fuckwit.

RFCs are documents, not sites. They may appear on a site, but they aren’t sites as such.

Obviously you weren’t reading the correct document.

So why doesn’t that surprise me.

Because you dumb fuck, you are supposed to snip non relative parts of the message you are replying to.

It’s lazy fuckwits like you who just bung a few words on top of the original thread that waste bandwidth.

Sooner or later you will experience a not so subtle LART if you keep on with this brain dead attitude.

Fucking newbies, it’s almost as bad as the AOL "me too" of the dim and distant past.
