I cannot use my own collection of chinese fonts in Photoshop CS. There is no problem with Photoshop 5.5. Only the Windows default chinese font can be used. Anyone experience the same? How to solve?

What directory are you putting them in? I have noticed that PS CS will not recognize fonts that I put in the standard system/fonts directory, but it will notice the fonts when I put them in my program files>common files>Adobe>fonts folder.

Does this help?

I have no problem with Chinese font but no direct input, only cut/paste.

You’ll either need to update your fonts to OpenType versions, or get the CS or CT version of Photoshop CS when it’s ready.

I’m not familiar with what products the Chinese font foundries have. They seem to be very behind in terms of converting to OpenType. A TrueType font supporting Unicode should work as well, but try a sample before buying.

Hello.
No.
I am using Windows XP and upgraded from version 7. That works fine. I navigated to the c>documents and settings>username>application data>adope photoshop>8.0?adobe photoshop settings folder and deleted the prefernce file and emptied my recyce bin and restarted my computer but same thing happened. I have even removed the program and re-installed it and the interface is still in chinese or some funky language. Could be russian for all I know.
I did the control alt shift thing as I launch program and get a dialog box which is in foreign letters and it only has a yes or no option. Either way I click and same.
I did get another box when I did that and it said browse for folder. BUt I didn’t know what I was browsing from.
I want my interface in English not foreign characters.
My fonts were where they were when I was using 7.1. I will see about moving them to the common folder as suggested.
Thanks.
