rotating pictures

maybe this NG is not appropriate for this question

I recently bought a canon ixus . I want to be able to rotate the pictures, without losing the information on date of photograph. (Obviously now when resaving them after rotation, I lose all info on the image).

Is there a way to do that? by batch would be greatly preferable. Does PS enable that? another soft? or is it asking too much?

Irfanview (freeware) can do this in it’s batch function. Good for lots more as well. www.infanview.com
