Does anyone know how I can "shrink a layer by 5 pixels" whilst leaving the other layers the original size? It’s got me beat.
Also does anyone know a website that will give me some ideas how to create type effects in photoshop?
Thanks,
Mic

Got to the layer you want to shrink, Select->All (or Ctrl A), Edit->Transform->Scale
Look at the status bar, the width and height of the layer are displayed. Subtract 5 from either value and enter the new values into the respective edit fields, press Enter

For the type effects you may look at myjanee’s page:

and a whole bunch of other tuts on the web.

It is not necessary to use Select All. If you use the Transform command with no selection made, it affects the entire layer.

Hi Mic,

You don’t say which version of PS you are using, but I have written a script for CS and CS2 which will resize a layer as a percentage of the original size.

If this might be useful to you, email me at the following address if you want a copy.

Hope this helps.
