If I copy an image from a word file and paste it into photoshop, it comes out in a strange format – I worked out how to correct it once before but have forgotten – can someone please remind me?

Thanks

Dave,

there is another way. Save your word file in the html format, and all the pictures will be saved in a subfolder from which you can easily load them into PS.

It could be worthwile to compare the quality resulting from these 2 different methods.

If you are using a current version of Word (after Word 97) M$ has intentionally buggered up copy and paste of embedded images. It’s not a mistake or a bug and they don’t plan to fix it.
I have spent DAYS on the phone with them re this. It is a major annoyance.

The easiest and least painful way is to save the page as a web page and pluck the image out of the folder of images it creates. It may still be compressed more than you’d like, but it will look much better than the metafile created by copy and paste.

If that doesn’t work, your only decent alternatives are
—blowing it up as large as possible and doing screen capture or — converting the doc to PDF and using Acrobat to get it out of there.

Sucks.
