Hi

I am creating a navbar and I have a box that made with selection I have filled it with a colour and I have done a bevel emboss on the box that has worked fine. My problem occurs when I go to the gradient overlay selection in my Layer Style box. When I select this it applies the gradient to the whole canvas not my selected box????

I just want the gradient style to apply to the box not the canvas what am I doing wrong? I know I have my box selected because all the other selection only get applied to the box.

Cheers Dale

I believe those are layer effects. Try creating a new layer from your selection, then apply effects.
