Select the tool, guess the options (options bar), click on the red in the pupil. Experiment with the options till you get it right.

Yes. Press F1. Go to Index. Go To R. Click on Red Eye.

These suggestions for other methods seem to mean that you guy don’t have CS2. The built in tool in CS2 is way easier, faster, and just as good as any of these older suggestions.

The red eye tool in CS2 is really easy to use. Just select the tool from the menu, enlarge the picture so the eye is easy to pick and click on the red part. There are adjustments for making it darker or lighter and for how much of the pupil is changed. The defaults seem to work well for me. (The tool is hidden under the spot healing tool)

What it means is that we don’t rely on a one-button-click fix for everything…

Have you tried it? I don’t rely on one-button-click fixes for everything either, but I also don’t needlessly make life more complicated for myself and others. My experience is that CS2’s one-button-click fix for redeye works as well as any of the complicate methods I have used for years.

Besides, the questioner was specifically asking about doing "red-eye correction in photoshop CS 9.0". Odd naming of the version besides, it would seem the tool would be the best answer.

Have to agree – it’s time saver. I haven’t used CS2 yet, but the same tool appears in Elements 3 which my partner plays with <g> and it works well there.

On one extreme, you have the people whose first reaction to any problem is to post in a newsgroup: Is there a filter I can get to…. On the opposite extreme you have people who will always say: I can do that in 59 steps on my own so why should I use a built in tool to do something? Of course, doing those same 59 steps gets rather old when you a). have a tool which does the job well, and quickly, and b). have the time constraints of a business. 😉
