I have lost the brush preferences. Whatever I set them on, I get a standard cross icon and don’t get brush size or the cross hair or the precise tool for the clone stamp. It was working OK last night. How do I get the brush prefernces back please?

Many thanks

Most frequently asked Photoshop question there is.

Answer: You have pressed the CAPS LOCK key on your keyboard. Press it again. CAPS LOCK on means precise cursors; CAPS LOCK off means cursors as set in your Preferences.

One day I’m going to have a custom keyboard made and the caps lock key will be on the bottom – that is, backside of the keyboard. Underneath. One seldom needs to use it and it’s situated right between two of the most used keys; tab & shift.

I ran across a freebie a while back that turns off your caps lock: http://www.worldinabox.co.uk/BoldFinger/

It disables it, so no more accidentally turning it on, but if you want it back on, you can hit alt+caps lock

You can remap Caps Lock to something else, like Shift in Windows itself– in the keyboard control panel.

I use a program called Keyboard Layout Manager to make my Windows keyboard work like a Mac keyboard and I have Caps Lock disabled.

My keyboard drivers must be different. I don’t have the option to remap. I downloaded Boldfinger. Possibly the most brilliant program ever written 🙂

Thank you both.
