Hiding someone’s teeth in a picture?

I have some pictures where the subject of the picture has part of his mouth open enough on one side so it is showing part of his teeth only on one side.

What are some techniques I can use to make it look like his lips are fully closed? I could clone over the lips but that would change the size and shape of his lips.

Thanks

Put a cigarette there! I’m kidding. Other than cloning/healing, I’ve played with the liquify filter and had some decent results "taking weight off" of relatives – of course there isn’t an intelligence filter so I was limited in what I could do.

Assuming the mouth is minimally open, I’d use the smudge tool rather than clone to close the mouth.

Have you considered having them remove their dentures (?) and reshooting….

I would use a selection tool to select the half of his mouth that is closed. make sure your selection goes into the cheek/chin/upper lip part of his case it’s important that there is no detail where your selection lines end. Then ctrl-j making new layer, ctrl-t free transform, right-click and flip horizontal. Now you can also play with the free transform to slightly alter the perspective of the smile if his head is turned a bit.
