Dear reader: I’ve used PS5.5 for several years and my knowledge is 10 feet wide and a mile deep. So now when I’m trying to migrate to PS7 (because of system 10.3- and "classic" sucks) I find that the usual tools are not easily found and some don’t work the same way they did in PS5.5…for instance… the line tool is hidden among the polygon shapes.. and each line segment creates a new layer… is it possible to keep the line tool the default instead ofhaving it buried in the polygons; and is there some way to keep new layers from being created with each line segment?… and what happened to the histogram tool that counted pixels? In PS5.5 this was an awesome replacement for a mechanical polar planimeter. And the keyboard commands are changed… can the paint bucket be changed back to "K"… half the time a can’t find it at all in PS7.

perhaps there is a more friendly OS10.3 replacement for PS?

any suggestions.

thx

No. The Shape tools, including the Line have more than one mode. Look at the Options Bar. The old style pixel line is to be found there in addition to the Shape layer line and the Path line. It’s all part of Photoshop’s vector capabilities, which 5.5 didn’t have for the most part.

Once you get used to 7 or CS you will never want to go back to the old methods. Trust me.
any suggestions.

thx
