We have CS running on a Windows 2000 Professional machine and a Windows XP machine. On the 2000 machine, when we open the browser and move the windows to our preference, shut the browser, and re-open it, the windows are in the same place as we put them. On the XP machine, when you do the same steps, the windows revert back to their original settings. We’ve compared all the preferences and settings between the machines and they are the same. We’ve also tried creating a new workspace and saving it, but it still reverts back to the original browser settings. Any advice would be appreciated.

sounds like your prefrences are not being written correctly. unless it’s related to your other problem (possible harware failure), then make sure the user had read/write/create/delete access to the application data directory where ps stores it’s various prefrence files.

(generally at: "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERS_NAME\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings" and subfolder Workspaces)
