I just installed Windows XP Professional on my computer. (Dell Inspiron 8000, Pentium III, 900 MHz, 512MB RAM) Now when I open a digital image Photoshop 7.0 is NO longer the default viewer, Windows XP is. How do I change it back to Photoshop 7.0? Actually anytime I open a digital image I want Photoshop 7.0 to open it. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

David,

As I recall, the installation of PS7 does offer a customized install where you can select which file types should be associated with PS7. I think a reinstall might present you with the screen again, but if you were to first uninstall PS7, then I expect you’d definitely get that screen.

Apart from going that route, you can also find one of each type of image file you want PS7 to open, right-click on it, and select "Open With" and then "Choose Program". From the resulting dialog, choose Photoshop 7.0 and check the "always use this program" option. Even doing that for four or five files types would be quicker than an uninstall/reinstall of PS7, so you might just try that first and see if it gets things back in order as you desire.

Regards,

Daryl
