Hi,

I have a problem: Every time I open an RAW (NEF) image in Photoshop CS Windows I can only acces the "basic raw adjustments" settings dialog box (where only whitle balance and exposure comp can be changed).

How on earth do I change the above basic setting to the advanced settings?

Thanks in advance,

Greg E

Hi.

On your main drive go to Programs, then to the Adobe Folder then to Plug-in folder then to File Formats and delete the 2 Nikon Files.

It is a common problem.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. Finally dawned upon me thhat Niko Capture was the culprit!

Only problem: the below tip doesn’t work for me with PS CS v.8 Win. Deleting the 2 Nikon file format files only causes PS to state that the NEF file I’m trying to open "isn’t the right kind of document".

What now. Do I need CS2 or do I have to reinstall the whole lot (without Nikon Capture…)

Hi again.

Have you installed the Adobe Raw Plug in?

I don’t think Ps CS had these converters when CS was first launched.

If not download it from the Adobe Site, it should be called something like ACR 3.

What camera? If it is D2X or D70s, then use the (free) version 3.1 DNG Converter to convert them to DNG, and they can be opened in ACR 2.4 under CS. The D70s is supported unofficially.

I don’t think 3.1 works for the D50, but I’m not sure.

Earlier cameras should work.

Or save yourself a lot of time and download Raw Shooter Essentials from www.pixmantec.com. It’s free, works better than ACR and Nikon Capture and support your cameras.
