I’m new to Photoshop, but learning. Have a question for the guru’s. I have several layers in a layout. I want to merge one layer into another, either by making one side of one of the layers transparent like a gradient sort of, or by merging them somehow. Each layer is of different colors, but I want to make it look like one big image. One layer is a gradient background, the other a photo. the photo has sharp edges. Can I do this. I’m sure I can, just don’t know how.

What you need is a layer mask. Just add one and then use the gradient tool to make it fade from one edge to the other.

That’s a real quick explanation. Search the forum for layer mask or check the PS help / manual.
