Is it possible to set an image to "autostretch" directly in Imageready? I am designing a navigation bar in Photoshop/Imageready, with the intention of placing the navbar in Adobe Golive as a "Smart Photoshop" PSD object. My navbar is similar to the one at <http://www.apple.com>: I would like the edges and background of the navabar to stretch to the edge of the users monitor, regardless of resolution, while the tabs remain centered. There is a way to do this in Dreamweaver by setting a column to "autostretch," but if it’s possible I would like to keep my workflow inside Photoshop/Imageready/Golive. I especially like the idea that if I save as PSD and place it in Golive as a Smart Object, any changes I make to my navbar in Photoshop/Imageready will automatically be updated in Golive.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks in advance… I can’t seem to figure this one out.

Just glancing at the code, I don’t see any "autostretch" or whatever. The whole nav bar is done in table, set to 100%, and the tables and cells within it either set to % or exact pixel dimensions. The individual links in the bar ("store", "ipod", etc) are simply GIFs of, of course, finite pixel dimensions.

Doubt very much you can do it in ImageReady/Photoshop 🙂

That’s html… Without looking at the code, i’d say chances are there’s a small .gif or .jpg used as a background image…. in a layer (div) or table… and set to repeat x times and the table or div width is set to 100%

Cheers…

Thanks Mac and JJ… Using Golive, I placed the PSD in the centre of a three column table set to 100% width and auto height, and then put a background gif in all three cells and set the two outer cells to 49% width and everything came out well. Using this method, I retain the "smart object" functionality of the PSD file in Golive.

Thanks again for the help!
